How To Invest in Philippine Stock Market? Basic Tips

Hi! and welcome to Pinoy Stock Market Blog. In this blog I will be covering basic information about how to open an account with COL and how to invest in Philippine Stock Market. I am referring particularly to our own local Philippine Stock Market.

What is a Stock Market?

The stock market is a place where shares of stock of publicly-listed companies are bought and sold.

The stock market is actually located with the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE). The PSE has two offices one in Ortigas and one in Makati, but don't worry because you don't have to go there in order to transact with them (I will be covering more info about this later on).

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) is the corporation that governs our local stock market.

What are Stocks?

Stocks are shares of ownership in a corporation or it represents ownership of a company. People buy or invest in stocks to benefit from a company's tremendous value potential over time. Once you buy or invest into a stock you now become part owner or a shareholder of that particular corporation.

How The Stock Market Works? Buying of PLDT Shares - Explanation from Pesos and Sense

In this video, Pesos and Sense explains How the Stock Market works. They cited PLDT as one of the best example, PLDT is not just owned by one person but a lot of people and companies who also bought shares from the company through Philippine stock market. There are 2 major ways you can earn from the stock market. One is you can earn through "Dividends" and the second is "Selling Your Shares at A Higher Value". You can watch the video below to understand much better.

After submitting all the required documents to COLFinancial, and once they verified you as an official account holder or member, you can now start investing in Philippine Stock Market. If you're new to stock market, I recommend to buy only blue chip companies, but as you go on and gain experiences you can start trading. But before you trade you should study first technical analysis, just google it or search for it on youtube, there's plenty of tutorials out there. You can see examples on how to buy and sell stocks here
