How To Invest in Philippine Stock Market? Basic Tips

Hi! and welcome to Pinoy Stock Market Blog. In this blog I will be covering basic information about how to open an account with COL and how to invest in Philippine Stock Market. I am referring particularly to our own local Philippine Stock Market.

What is a Stock Market?

The stock market is a place where shares of stock of publicly-listed companies are bought and sold.

The stock market is actually located with the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE). The PSE has two offices one in Ortigas and one in Makati, but don't worry because you don't have to go there in order to transact with them (I will be covering more info about this later on).

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) is the corporation that governs our local stock market.

What are Stocks?

Stocks are shares of ownership in a corporation or it represents ownership of a company. People buy or invest in stocks to benefit from a company's tremendous value potential over time. Once you buy or invest into a stock you now become part owner or a shareholder of that particular corporation.

How The Stock Market Works? Buying of PLDT Shares - Explanation from Pesos and Sense

In this video, Pesos and Sense explains How the Stock Market works. They cited PLDT as one of the best example, PLDT is not just owned by one person but a lot of people and companies who also bought shares from the company through Philippine stock market. There are 2 major ways you can earn from the stock market. One is you can earn through "Dividends" and the second is "Selling Your Shares at A Higher Value". You can watch the video below to understand much better.

TUGS: Price below All MA's Still Bearish, However It Bounced from It's Psychological Resistance 2.90 Can Be Scalp or Day Trade

TUGS: Price below all MA's still bearish. However it bounced from it's psychological resistance @ 2.90 which is good for scalping using 1 min to 5 minute chart or day trading. Protect your capital by tight stop loss just below 2.90. PSAR still gives a sell signal, bearish volume still increasing and the price may go sideways ranging from 50% to 61.8% Fibo level which is a bearish pattern. These are all possibilities which can or cannot happen. Just watch closely the price action. CAVEAT and Trade at your Own Risk...

ISM Just Bust Out From It's Upper Trend line and Breaks the Symmetrical Triangle Formation (December 20, 2018)

ISM just bust out from it's upper trend line and breaks the symmetrical triangle formation. Baka pamatay sunog lang, with not much volume. Tsupit-tsupit muna or pwedi tsupit yung half and hold the other half. Might go sideways, ranging from the 38.2 to 50% Fibo level. But who knows, the momentum might continue. However, malayo layo pa ang January 31, 2019. Wag masyado excited, Enjoy muna natin Christmas...

FGEN Did A Breakout in Thursday From it's Strong Resistance One Year Ago

FGEN did a breakout from it's strong resistance one year ago and was tested more than 3 times. However did a retracement in Friday, as it was a profit taking day. Price is above all MA's, including MA200, 20>50>100 which is a strong trend for a BlueChipRide at the breakout point or wait for further pullback until you can see signs of reversal. Caveat if breakout is not going to be successful. Trade at Your Own Risk...

Good Move ISM: After 14 days of Trading, Finally the candle crossed Above MA9 - Dec 7. to 11 (2018) Trade Execution

Good Move ISM: After 14 days of Trading, Finally the candle crossed Above MA9 - Nagpapahiwatig Na ✌️😎😁 Trade At Your Own Risk...
>> My Trade Execution from Dec 7. to 11 (2018)

Hold and Tsupit Strategy: Bought again ISM in Dec. 7 at 5.55 (EOD). Half sold at 5.96 and as I saw weakness on a 5-minute time frame creating a strong resistance at 6.20 in the form of weak candles, I sold the other half  at 6.16 to Lock-in Profits.

Other reasons I sold at 6.16 were the following:
  • During the 5-minute time frame the Price is going up but the RSi is going down which is a bearish signal
  • Something big blocking at 6.20 level at 1.3M Ask size
However, I bought again at 6.21 (EOD) after the confirmed breakout of 6.20 - Let's see what will going happen tomorrow...

Price is going up on a 5-minute timeframe but RSi is going down (Bearish Signal)

Something big blocking at 6.20 (1.3M Ask Size)

Win Bounce Play Trading, Bought at .2490, Bounced at MA9 and Formed a Hammer Candle, Sold the Following Day at .2650, Parabolic SAR still a Buy Signal

Hello mga lodi, I just want to share my simple day trade strategy on Win, sana makatulong ng konti especially sa Newbies, hehe. I bought Win at .2490 during closing (EOD) as I saw a hammer candle and bounced at MA9. Also one of my favorite indicator when it comes to buying a stock and also one of the most simple and easy to follow indicator is the Parabolic SAR na sa tingin ko hindi tinuturo karamihan sa mga stock gurus online. You can read more about Parabolic SAR here together with some examples

When I saw that the PSAR or Parabolic SAR dot is below the candle (which is a buy signal), together with the hammer candle and the bounced at MA9 which a very strong buying confirmation. I bought Win at .2490 level and sold the following day at .2650 as I already saw that it's near is previous resistance which is at .2700 and was hit 2 times already.

My Trade History on Win that Day...

Enjoyed a 5% plus Gain. Not Bad... After all Gain is Gain hehe...

How To Use Parabolic SAR Effectively As Trail Stop During Parabolic Move with It's Best Partner Indicator: The ADX

What is Parabolic SAR? or Parabolic Stop and Reverse or PSAR, and How to Use it?

There are a lots of definitions in Google when it comes to Parabolic SAR and has a very complex operation. But in this article I just cover the very basic of it's function. Parabolic SAR was developed by Welles Wilder considered to be the father of Technical Indicators. He also developed RSi, Average True Range and the ADX. According to experts, the very basic function of the Parabolic SAR is that when the PSAR or Parabolic SAR's dot is below the candle it is a buy signal and if it is above the candle it is a sell signal.

Here's a Parabolic SAR example buy and sell signal image from Investopedia

According to Wikipedia,  It is a trend-following (lagging) indicator and may be used to set a trailing stop loss or determine entry or exit points based on prices tending to stay within a parabolic curve during a strong trend. The indicator generally works only in trending markets, and creates "whipsaws" during ranging or, sideways phases.

Therefore, Wilder recommends first establishing the direction or change in direction of the trend through the use of parabolic SAR, and then using a different indicator such as the Average Directional Index to determine the strength of the trend.

A parabola below the price is generally bullish, while a parabola above is generally bearish. A parabola below the price may be used as support, whereas a parabola above the price may represent resistance. These parabola may be used as price areas for stop losses or profit targets. Source: Wikipedia

Images below were taken as an example from ISM and ATN with the Parabolic SAR generating a buy and sell signal during Parabolic Move...

ISM Parabolic Move, PSAR Gives Buy and Sell Signal

Here's a sample Trail Stop Using Parabolic SAR on ISM. As you can see, the PSAR dots below the candles at the 2-peso level gives us a buy signal already. If you did bought at this level and hold until the PSAR dot appeared on top of the candle, you can sell already. However, if you're looking for a confirmation or a strong conviction that this rally is already weakening, you can look at the ADX.

When the ADX is already angling down and there's a first PSAR dot appeared already on top of the candle, this means that this rally is already deteriorating. And to prove that, you can see the following candles that didn't break the current resistance at the P8.60 level and instead continue to go down on the following days.

Take note, this is not a Holy Grail but at least you may have an idea when you should sell at the top specially if you already saw signs of weakness on the trend through the Gravestone Doji and Bearish Abandoned Baby candles together with the first PSAR dot appeared on top of the candle and the ADX is already angling down.

ATN Parabolic Move, PSAR Gives Buy and Sell Signal

Here's the Chart of ATN during it's parabolic move. If you did bought at the .80 to .90 level which you see that the Parabolic SAR dots is below the candles indicating a buy signal. And then hold until you see a first dot that appears on top of the candle during this parabolic advanced of ATN which gives a sell signal. You could have enjoyed a 70% gain if you sold at the 1.30 Peso level when you first see the Parabolic SAR dot that appears on top of the Candle.

However, Advanced or Aggressive trader sells when they see the current candle goes below the closing of the previous day candle. This is their Trail Stop

Take Note: As indicated in WikipediaThe indicator generally works only in trending markets, and creates "whipsaws" during ranging or, sideways phases. And you have to use it together with the ADX
